The Local SEO Checklist for Sunshine Coast Businesses
The 12 things every Sunshine Coast business should do to rank on Google — from Google Business Profile to suburb pages to reviews.
You don't need to hire an SEO agency for the basics. If you're a Sunshine Coast business and you knock these off yourself, you'll already be ahead of most of your local competition.
The 12-point local SEO checklist
- Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile (GBP)
- Pick the most specific primary category available (not 'business')
- Add real photos of your premises, team, work and products — weekly
- Ask every happy customer for a Google review; reply to all of them
- List services individually inside GBP with descriptions
- Make sure your business name, address and phone match everywhere — website, Facebook, directories
- Add your business to Sunshine Coast Business Council, Chamber of Commerce and top 5 industry directories
- Create one page per service on your website, with 'Sunshine Coast' in the H1, title tag and URL
- Add suburb pages for the 3-5 towns you service most (Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Noosa, etc.)
- Add LocalBusiness schema markup to your website (a developer can do this in 20 minutes)
- Register with Google Search Console and submit your sitemap.xml
- Publish one useful article a month answering a question your customers actually ask
What order to do them in
If you can only do three things this month: (1) fully complete your GBP, (2) ask five happy customers for reviews and (3) create one Sunshine Coast-optimised service page on your website. That alone will move the needle in most local industries.
